The following are the roles of CMSEOK:

1. Help in capacity building of micro and small enterprises.
2. Influence the Formulation and review policies and programs for the benefit of  Micro and Small Enterprises sector;
3. Monitor and evaluate the implementation of existing policies and programmes related to, or affecting the micro and small enterprises and where need be take the appropriate action.
4. Fight and champion for the rights, interests of micro and small Enterprises sector interest in spaces.
5. Conduct researches and surveys to help in informing Micro and Small Enterprises sector programming and needs for actions.
6. Participate in the mobilisation resources for development of the micro and small enterprises sector.
7. Helps in  promoting and marketing  of products or wares  produced  by micro and small enterprises i.e. exhibitions;
8. Promote innovation and development of products by micro and small enterprises;
